Project Highlights

The Garrison Slough Trestle Bridge replacement project demanded both speed and precision. Located in a mission critical zone that supports Eielson AFB’s fuel supply, power plant, and security infrastructure, a failing bridge was replaced in a carefully orchestrated effort during a limited two-week railroad shutdown window. Utilizing a strategic approach to planning and tireless execution, our team completed the project more than two months ahead of schedule.

  • Diverted water using sheet pile dams, diversion culverts, and dewatering pumps to allow for below-water-table excavation work.
  • Demolished the failing railroad trestle bridge and a section of Arctic Avenue to clear the way for reconstruction.
  • Installed new precast concrete headwalls, 60-inch culverts, and structural steel tie rods to ensure long-term infrastructure durability and resilience.
  • Protected base-critical transportation routes and utilities and managed potentially contaminated soils.
  • Completed 65 days ahead of schedule within a high-stakes, time-sensitive window.
