Project Highlights

Located in Napakiak, Alaska, the William N. Miller K-12 Memorial School Replacement project was initiated to address the threat posed by ongoing riverbank erosion that endangered the existing site. This effort involved relocating the school inland to ensure the safety and longevity of the community’s educational facilities. Despite the challenging conditions, the project team completed critical elements efficiently while making adjustments to the original plan.

  • Constructed a new 26,000 SF school building using a steel and SIP design.
  • Completed and connected a bulk fuel storage system and two generator modules.
  • Relocated a water treatment utility building and supplied a new wastewater treatment facility, which replaces a previously proposed sewage treatment lagoon within the project scope.
  • Demolished the existing school after decommissioning fire suppression and mechanical systems, coordinating utility reconfiguration, and identifying and removing hazardous materials.
  • Disposed of non-hazardous debris in a one-time construction and demolition monofil permitted by the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation.
